At the beginning of the month, my husband and I became the proud occupiers of Studio E at the School of Visual Philosophy. “Studio E” makes me think of Sheila E and Prince from the 1980s and so every time I say it, I feel like I’ve been enveloped in a cloak of cool awesomeness. What’s the word for “cool” now? “Lit” I think. This whole situation is lit as fsck!
The red arrow in the photo above points to our open door. The place has a rough rustic-industrial sort of vibe. As you can see, we’re right off of the main classroom area, in the front of the building – a very public location. There’s no hiding out in that spot. It’s stepping out of the comfort zone for sure!
We have a long way to go to get all moved in. My first act was to haul a couple of my paintings over there to claim the space as ours. Now I’m deep into deciding what needs to be moved over there and what stays in the home studio – a complicated process. It’s a long way from being presentable, but I’m happy to show our space off to local peeps. Just give me a call or email to set up a time.
