Collage of Mini Flower Field acrylic paintings by Julie Bovee

I’m working on eight 5×7 inch mini flower field paintings for my two open studio events coming up in November. The above collage shows four of the paintings, still in progress, but close to completion. If you’re looking to add more affordable original art to your collection, please stop by one of my open studios to check them out or message me to drop by at your convenience.

Above is a photo of the eight paintings in progress on my easel. You might have noticed that one of them is not like the others. That’s a small painting in my citrus-inspired series. It reminds me of the Sesame Street song, “One of These Things”, and I keep catching myself humming that while I paint.

Painting inspired by Mural at Leif Erikson Park

I recently had the opportunity to think about what community spirit means to me and realized my experience painting a mural at a local park was the perfect example. I’ve submitted this new painting to the City of San José’s Office of Cultural Affairs’ Public Art Program as an example of community spirit and resilience.

Fresh Art Hung in San Jose

I updated the paintings I have hanging at KALEID Gallery in San Jose, California today. This was the fastest update I’ve ever done thanks to amazing help from Fernando. I’d run out of quarters for the parking meter out front, and was putting in every last dime I could dig out of my car, which gave me about 3-4 minutes per each. Pitiful hahaha. Fernando was so much help! Together, we did the whole hanging in less than an hour and I didn’t get a parking ticket. Woot!
