Two fun open studio events are fast approaching in November, both in my studio at the School of Visual Philosophy in San Jose. I have new art in the works for both events, including larger paintings as well as affordable 5×7 inch mini paintings. Both events include family-friendly events and opportunities to find unique hand-made items for sale from a variety of artists.

The first is on Sunday, November 3rd from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm, and is in conjunction with the Dia de los Muertos Food and Art Walk in the Alameda and Rose Garden neighborhoods of San Jose, California. My studio in the School of Visual Philosophy will be open and I’ll be painting live. I’d love for you to drop by to say hi. That same weekend, Alameda Artworks, across the street, will have artist open studios on both days. Visiting the open studios is free, but if you want to participate in the Dia de los Muertos events, you’ll need to purchase tickets by going to the Eventbrite page linked to above. The School of Visual Philosophy will be offering a Paper Flower Workshop from 2-3:00 pm as one of the gold ticket offerings.

Autumn Art Fair School of Visual PhilosophyThe second event is the Autumn Art Fair and Corn Hole Tournament being held by the School of Visual Philosophy from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The fun will include artist open studios (mine included!), a holiday art bazaar, family friendly activities and a Cornhole tournament. I’ve been asked to do a flower fields painting demonstration in the main classroom area. I’ll send an email closer to the event with more information about the demo. If you’re not on my email list, you can sign up here. I’ll also post on social media.

I’ll have large paintings available for purchase as well as smaller, more affordable pieces, hand made cards, mugs, prints and more. Other artists will also have their items for sale. If you’re looking for unique and special hand made gifts for the holidays, this would be a fun stop to add to your itinerary!

2023 HARK! Holiday Art Show and Sale at KALEID Gallery

I'm participating in the 2023 HARK! Holiday Art Show and Sale at KALEID Gallery again this year with four affordable 8x8 inch paintings (see above), three of them are new and haven't been shown in public before. The opening of the show will be on Friday, December 1st,...

Painting inspired by Mural at Leif Erikson Park

I recently had the opportunity to think about what community spirit means to me and realized my experience painting a mural at a local park was the perfect example. I’ve submitted this new painting to the City of San José’s Office of Cultural Affairs’ Public Art Program as an example of community spirit and resilience.

Fresh Art Hung in San Jose

I updated the paintings I have hanging at KALEID Gallery in San Jose, California today. This was the fastest update I’ve ever done thanks to amazing help from Fernando. I’d run out of quarters for the parking meter out front, and was putting in every last dime I could dig out of my car, which gave me about 3-4 minutes per each. Pitiful hahaha. Fernando was so much help! Together, we did the whole hanging in less than an hour and I didn’t get a parking ticket. Woot!
