Recalling the 2019 Superbloom

Title: Recalling the 2019 Superbloom

Size: 18 inches x 24 inches x 1 3/8 inch deep acrylic on canvas

This painting is an homage to the superbloom that in the spring of 2019 after we experienced a winter of heavy rains here in California. A superbloom is an extraordinary outbreak of flowers that happens when the weather conditions are just right and as I understand it, they tend to happen about every ten years in California. I particularly love seeing hillsides awash in orange and yellow when the California poppies bloom.
